Happy Helmets | Scott x Camp Cranium
Welcome to Brain Injury Awareness Month! For this month’s Happy Helmets we were lucky enough to partner with Scott along with our friends over at Camp Cranium!
Scott:
Scott has been an industry leader across winter sports, motocross and biking since 1958 with everything from hard goods to optics! Scott actually started as a ski pole company in 1958, evolving with each sport into what it is now. Click HERE to read more about the legend’s history.
Scott is an extremely innovative company that offers an array of technology in their helmets to ensure the ultimate protection. On top of the helmets being lightweight, the technology options (within wintersport helmets) offered are:
MIPS: MIPS is a low-friction layer inside the helmet which allows the head to rotate relative to the helmet in an angled impact. This substantially reduces rotational violence and the potential for damage to the brain.
360 Pure Sound: On the mountain, safety is paramount, and being able to hear what is happening around you can save your life. This is why we have invested in R&D to develop 360° Pure Sound technology, a specifically-shaped inner piece in our ear pads, surrounded by sound transparent fabric. It not only let you hear better, but also localize sound more accurately.
Dual Active Venting System: Scott’s most advanced venting system allows the user to carefully regulate the airflow through the helmet for optimal ventilation in any weather condition. This is achieved through two easy-to-use sliders that allow the ventilation to be fine-tuned at the front and top of the helmet.
WRAS2: The WRAS Fit System offers full adjustability to ensure a customized and comfortable fit for your head shape. Adjust the height of the rear ergonomic cradle and dial in the perfect pressure using the micro adjustment dial. WRAS is forseen of a big comolded wheel that makes it easy to grab and adjust with gloves. WRAS ensures your helmet fits securely and comfortably.
Passive Venting System: Built-in system regulating the airflow through the helmet.
JRAS: JRAS Fit System can be adjusted vertically allowing you to keep your help secure whilst riding.
Halo Fit System: Our ultra-light HALO Fit System provides easy adjustability and unparallelled comfort. Find the perfect height of the rear ergonomic cradle while the helmet is on your head and dial in optimal pressure using the micro-adjustment dial. The result is a helmet which adapts to your head shape and leaves you feeling secure and focusing on the line ahead.
D30 Protection: D3O® material flows with you as you move but locks together on impact to absorb energy.

Happy Helmets | Giro x the Service Board
Hello Friends!
Giro has now officially been the largest supporter of our Happy Helmets program, so it only seemed fitting to join them to kick off the new year! HUGE shout out to Giro for the support, we continued to be blown away by the love you’ve been showing us as well as the community, thank you. We’re happy to be able to give these helmets to The Service Board.
Giro:
Giro has been one of the leading helmet companies since 1985 and within the snow industry since 1999. Giro really has it all in terms of protective gear with goggles, helmets and apparel for primarily bike + snow.
Giro’s Snow helmets are a sleek, low profile option with a couple technology options to choose from:
MIPS: “All Giro helmets are designed to reduce as much energy as possible while meeting and exceeding stringent safety standards. The goal of Giros Integrated MIPS equipped helmets is to reduce rotational forces while enhancing fit and comfort by combining the MIPS slip plane with the helmet’s adjustable fit system. Giro believes that helmets equipped with this technology can reduce the amount of rotational force that may be transferred to the rider's brain in certain impacts.” Learn more on Giro.com.
Spherical: “The unique ball-and-socket design of Spherical Technology utilizes two separate liners to help manage impact forces. The material and density of the inner and outer liners can be optimized with Progressive Layering to help manage a broad range of impact forces: the Insurgent features an outer EPS layer (to address high-speed impacts) and an inner EPP layer (with rebound characteristics designed to handle slower speed falls.) When you combine the benefits of Progressive Layering with the market-leading Mips® Brain Protection System, which can help redirect rotational energy away from the brain, you get more comprehensive protection.”
the Service Board:
We’re ecstatic to partner with the Service Board for Jan, a Seattle based nonprofit whose mission is “As a youth-led organization the Service Board (tSB) builds community through the power of youth.”
Their vision is for all youth to advocate for a more just future.
“For over 27 years, tSB continues to develop and implement culturally-relevant programming for high school-aged youth from traditionally marginalized communities (BIPOC, LGBTQAI+, low-income, immigrants, refugees, foster care, houseless) in King County.
tSB provides youth with a supportive space where they are heard, valued and given space to develop as leaders. Our year-around programming facilitates equitable access for youth to traditionally inaccessible outdoor activities with a focus on snowboarding to increase diversity in the outdoors and build confidence in youth. In combination with community service projects, adult mentoring, social and environmental justice education; tSB creates courageous communities of young change-makers, athletes, and future environmentalists.”

Snowboard Outreach Society:
“When we humbly began more than 25 years ago, we took 15 kids from the big city of Denver to the fresh air of Vail Mountain to snowboard for the first time. Those kids left that day forever inspired by the transformative power of the outdoors.
Over two decades later, we’ve grown SOS Outreach into a national nonprofit spanning from the Cascades to the Sierras to the Rockies to the Midwestern hills—serving more than 4,000 youth each year across 15 locations in 9 states, and offering year-round programming at several of our sites.
Our life-changing programs combine outdoor exploration, positive adult mentorship, leadership skills and community service to help youth discover joy, feel included, overcome challenges, improve their mental health, and become strong leaders.”
SOS has impacted an abundance of both youth and their adult mentors in the outdoor community! To see how you can get involved click HERE
