Happy Helmets | Anon x The Chill Foundation
Hey Friends!
We’re honored to be partnering with both Anon & The Chill Foundation again for the second month in a row!
All donations, up to $200K before December 31, 2023, will be matched by Chill partners Rally 2 Give and BOA – so your gift will have double the impact!!!
The Chill Foundation was founded in 1995 by Jake & Donna Carpenter, with a mission of “Chill inspires young people through boardsports and builds a more equitable outdoor community.” Not just snowboarding - surfing, skateboarding and SUPing are all a piece of Chill.
They have strong core values of honesty, equity, progression and fun! These have allowed the two to build a foundation that “has served more than 30,000 young people since the program began, working with more than 2,000 youth annually. We partner with social service agencies, mental health agencies, foster care programs, juvenile justice programs, and schools in local communities to engage youth participants. All gear and services necessary to enjoy boardsports are provided to the youth at no cost.
Our programs recognize the inherent strength and potential present in each of our participants. Through boardsports, we teach new skills, build confidence, and inspire a lifelong love for boardsports.”
Chill has many locations worldwide! They’re always in need of volunteers for their program mentors, additionally opportunities may arise for help with marketing and/or development and events in select cities globally. We also welcome volunteer support from professional photographers or videographers who can support us with specific marketing needs.
Anon has a vast array of helmet styles with different technologies to choose from, all of which are lightweight as well as low profile.
Anon’s most recent and very impressive technology is WaveCel®
“WaveCel® behaves like a network of hundreds of interconnected shock absorbers connecting your head and the outer shell of the helmet. WaveCel is built to Flex, crumple and glide upon impact.” Read more & check out their WaveCel helmets, here!
Another recent innovation from Anon is their Endura® Shell:
“Endura® shell construction features an injection-molded ABS exterior for long-lasting durability and ding-resistant strength”
Anon also has helmets with the following options:
MIPS - “Multidirectional Impact Protection System (MIPS) is a revolutionary technology that mimics the brain's own protection system with a low friction layer that lets the helmet slide relative to the head”
Standard EPS Line - “In-mold shell construction fuses a lightweight polycarbonate shell with an EPS liner for sleek comfort and a low profile fit”
Boa Fit System Options- “360° BOA® Fit System integrates a fit dial directly into the helmet and provides for micro adjustments in a complete halo around the wearer's head”

Happy Helmets | Retrospec x Mobility Matters Foundation
Hey friends!
For September’s Happy Helmets we have a new helmet donor, Retrospec as well as a new recipient Mobility Matters Foundation!
Retrospec is an awesome company that was established in 2009. Rectropec’s goal is to make nature second nature for everyone. What does that mean exactly?
“The outside is for everyone, but not everyone feels comfortable outside. So we set out to make everyone feel at home in the open air through the use of expertly designed, durably crafted, accessibly priced gear. We believe that all people, regardless of background or experience, should enjoy the life-affirming, eye-opening beauty of the outside world. We encourage a more active lifestyle and make being outdoors fun and inviting for people of any age, ability, or skill level. “
Retrospec has helmets for multiple sports such as biking and snow - all of their helmets have a fully formed ABS shell or PC shell as well as EPS lining to keep your noggin safe. Not only do they make helmets, they make just about anything you can think of that would get you into nature - bikes, kayaks, skateboards, paddleboards, googles, ect.
Do yourself a favor and check em’ out!
We have also teamed up with a new organization to be the recipients of September’s Happy Helmets, Mobility Matters Foundation
Mobility Matters Foundation’s mission is to “increase accessibility and acquisition by enhancing the quality of life in individuals within their home and community by providing durable medical equipment, through education, providing resources, and advocacy.”
They are most known for hosting their annual Bike Day.
If you’re as inspired as we were by them, you will be happy to know that this year’s bike day is September 16th!! To get involved you can make a monetary donation or simply volunteer your time. A typical durable medical equipment cost is anywhere from $3,000-$30,000, so anything helps to get an individual assistance in purchasing a device.

Through our connections with Salt Lake City’s Youth organizations, we bring skateboarding to groups who might not otherwise have access to it. We provide skateboards and space for youth to learn new skills, express themselves, and meet new friends.”
