Happy Helmets | Pro-Tec x Pushing Ahead
Hi Friends!
For July’s Happy Helmets, we were fortunate enough to make our donation early and partake in some of the 2022 “Go Skate Day” activities. For those of you unfamiliar with Go Skate Day - it’s every year on the summer solstice (June 21st), it’s a great way to just get outside and celebrate with your local skate community. It only seemed fitting to have none other than the iconic Pro-tec be our, very generous, donor for the big day!
This year Pushing Ahead (our July HH recipients) held a community skate session that was open to all ages and abilities for Go Skate Day. The session was packed with kids that were absolutely crushing it. Some kids were just learning and others were working on dialing in tricks, but every single kid had a huge smile on their face. It was truly inspiring to see such an inclusive environment that was fueled by passion.
Speaking of passion, we were able to team up with The Rose Club for their late afternoon Go Skate Day event… talk about some ladies with passion. These women were absolutely ripping. The Rose Club is a female focused skate/snow group based in UT that welcomes anyone and everyone of all abilities. If you haven’t already check them out, they’re doing incredible things within the community: https://the-rose-club.com/
Happy Helmets:
We’re thrilled to have Pro-Tec’s support in Happy Helmets, they’re the OGs of protective gear.
“From empty concrete pools in Southern California to the epic runs of the Colorado Rockies, Action Sports participants have always found a way to adapt and push forward; a mindset Pro-Tec engineers embrace while aggressively pursuing new innovative designs. So whether you’re a backcountry powder-hound, a handrail destroyer, or an everyday resort cruiser just learning to shred, Pro-Tec’s extensive line of helmets caters to any rider who wants the classic Pro-Tec look with proven protection.
Founded in 1973, Pro-Tec is the original skateboard protective gear brand, featuring the market’s most recognizable style of helmets. Pro-Tec designs are often imitated but never truly duplicated; that's because no other action sports brand has 40-years of heritage producing the most stylish and technologically advanced protective gear.”
Today Pro-Tec delivers the very best in modern protective equipment with a broad range of impact technology for a variety of sports. No matter your sport, no matter your style, Pro-Tec has a helmet for you. Educate yourself on how Pro-Tec is doing more than just keeping you safe; it’s pushing you forward.
We are ecstatic that we were able to donate the ProTec helmets Pushing Ahead, a local UT nonprofit focused on empowerment through skateboarding.

We cannot thank the sponsors, artists and community enough for showing up and making this event so special. The energy was unreal & Mary Walsh absolutely crushed leading a panel. Roxy has been hard at work redefining “Cute” check out their most recent video HERE
“OMG! A rallying cry to the accomplishments of women in sport. A rallying cry for women in general.
Women are incredible.
They surf mountains, and soar as high as skyscrapers. And on occasion, they fall from the sky. They land hard.
Bleed.
Scar.
Cry.
And get up and do it all over again. Often with their baby in one arm, and a trophy in the other.
We celebrate all the OMG moments of a female athlete. From the medals, and world titles --- to the literal hunger onset, the annoying wedgie that wants to ride too, the period cramps that come at you like 15' Teahupo'o right before you have to compete... at 15' Teahupo'o....
Because, at the end of the day, these athletes are women. And women are incredible. They have it all and do it all.
WOMEN ARE GODDESSES” - ROXY
Happy Helmets | Anon x Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah
Hello Everyone!
Can you believe it’s already May? This year is flying by! As mentioned last month we were a beneficiary of The Bomb Hole cup, not only that but our very own Kelsey Boyer was featured on the Bomb Hole! We were astounded by the support we saw from the two, and were able to achieve the goal of raising $10k in 2 weeks - which means E-Stone has to dye his beard and Chris Grenier has to get our logo tattooed.
We wanted to extend a massive thank you to The Bomb Hole for such amazing opportunities as well as a huge thank you to YOU ALL for the continued support.
If you missed Kelsey’s Bomb Hole you can check it out, HERE!
Happy Helmets:
May’s Happy Helmets program has been made possible by none other than Anon! We’re astonished by Anon’s continued support of our Happy Helmets program and are very excited to team up with Big Brothers Big Sister of Utah (BBBS) again this month.
Anon has been among the top helmet companies within snow sports since the early 2000s and are leading the industry with innovative helmet technology. Their most recent innovation is WaveCel:
“WaveCel® behaves like a network of hundreds of interconnected shock absorbers connecting your head and the outer shell of the helmet. WaveCel helps distribute the impact energy through its network of cells, reduces impact forces like the crumple zone of a car, and then helps divert rotational forces by flexing and gliding to help redirect energy away from the head.” Each WaveCel helmet is designed to fit closer to the head, providing a snug, comfortable fit. Check out their WaveCel helmets, here!
Another recent innovation from Anon is their Endura: “Endura® shell construction features an injection-molded ABS exterior for long-lasting durability and ding-resistant strength”
Anon also has helmets lines with the following options:
MIPS Line - “Multidirectional Impact Protection System (MIPS) is a revolutionary technology that mimics the brain's own protection system with a low friction layer that lets the helmet slide relative to the head”
Standard EPS Line - “In-mold shell construction fuses a lightweight polycarbonate shell with an EPS liner for sleek comfort and a low profile fit”
Boa Fit System Options - “360° BOA® Fit System integrates a fit dial directly into the helmet and provides for micro adjustments in a complete halo around the wearer's head”
Plus multiple other options to ensure you get the helmet that best fits your needs & budget!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah helps children realize their potential and build their futures. We nurture children and strengthen communities. And we couldn't do any of it without you. Their mission is to “Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.”
They have community-based, school based and a few other programs for children. Click HERE to see how you can get involved and if you would simply like to learn more click HERE.

ROXY Helping You Step Into Nature
Nature & the Brain
Nature has an extremely powerful effect on the brain, both mentally and physically. Over the years, study after study has shown the number of positive effects of stepping out of the city and into nature, a surprising statistic found that most people only spend 8% of their time in nature. Year after year, more people are moving to urban areas, which tends to place a wedge in their connections with nature.
Why is connection to nature so important for us? Here are just a couple of ways being in nature can contribute to better brain health:
Sciences backups the fact that being in nature can elevate your mood. One study placed half of its participants in an urban environment and the other half in a forest. The participants in the forest had lower heart rates, lower concentrations of cortisol, and lover sympathetic activity. An array of studies have all corroborated these findings, concluding that being in nature can lower levels of stress, depression, and anxiety.
Amazingly enough, being in or near nature helps you heal faster. In the early 1980s, a researcher visited and studied a small hospital in Paoli, Pennsylvania, where he gathered information about the recovery rate of patients who had gone a routine gall bladder surgery. The patients whose rooms looked out into a wooded area recovered faster and reported less pain and distress throughout their recovery. On the other side, patients that faced other buildings required three times the number of pain killers, and found that the recovery was slowed by a day or more. This study was very controlled, matching patients with equal age, gender, weight, status, etc. The only explanation for the expedited healing was the view of nature.
Sunshine is another significant contributing factor to elevated moods. Sun increases vitamin D which reduces swelling, helps to strengthen bones, and reduces osteoporosis. It's enjoyable to just feel the warmth from the sun on your skin after a long winter or rain day.
These are just a few ways being in nature can help both, mentally and physically. In the world we live in today, it's easy to forget how impactful just an evening walk can be, remember to give yourself a break from time to time to get outside! Roxy has activewear that is comfortable, lightweight, stylish and is crafted with sustainable tactics. Find the set here.
