Name: Isabella Gomez
Where are you from: New Hope, Minnesota
Sport of choice: Snowboarding
Interesting fact about yourself: I started riding at Hyland Hills in Minnesota when I was 5. I used to be so sort that the tow rope would be too high and I would have to hang on for dear life as I got dragged up the hill. I can confidently say that I can now get to the top without starting a dog pile on the rope…still pretty short though.
What inspired you to partner with Save A Brain?:
I’ve never understood the stigma around wearing a helmet. I’ve always worn a helmet but often felt that it wasn’t cool to do so since nobody else did. In the last few years, I realized it was way cooler to protect your brain and be able to ride, then have to sit on the sidelines because you whacked your dome. One good slam is all it takes for someone to have to walk away from snowboarding. Accidents happen, I’ve seen good boarders take wicked slams with no helmet just cruising groomers. I’ve had my fair share of concussions even with a helmet, and they hurt! I can’t imagine hitting my head without one on. If wearing a helmet will keep me in the game longer, then I’ll take it! Its so easy to slap on a dome piece and protect your noggin! Big Love for Kelsey and all efforts of Save A Brain! Beyond stoked to be part of such a rad community of supportive brain lovers!
